Entrance to the Little Mermaid area, right next to the 20k Leagues. Kinda funny seeing that Captain Nemo was looking for Atlantis and all.
Once you walk down into the cave King Triton greets you, or at least his statue does. I thought this area was really cool, it had a few kiddy rides, a restaurant, and an awesome Little Mermaid show. We thought it was going to be just kind of like the one at Hollywood Studios in Orlando…man were we wrong. This was kind of like Little Mermaid meets Cirque du Soleil, they had Ariel, who was a white girl, sing and “swim” around in the sky. Also interesting all the songs were in English, but if the characters spoke to one another it was in Japanese. There was also a 20 something foot mechanical Ursula….yup terrifying. I have a few videos of the area Ill post in another entry.
Agrabah area from Aladdin, this was the entrance to the show they had where you watched a kawaii magician apprentice deal with his evil master. The magician finds the magic lamp and Genie shows up to help out the apprentice. Interestingly the Genie sings Friend Like Me in Japanese rather than English which most of the other songs we had seen were. Maybe it had to do something with Robin Williams or something? Im not sure.
This is a two story carousel that was Aladdin themed.
They also had the flying carpets, which are much like Dumbo.
So this ride right here, let me tell you. This might be the busiest ride in the park, so we got fast passes for it real early in the day. It is much like the Indy ride at Disneyland, and kind of like Countdown to Extinction at Animal Kingdom, you ride in a jeep through the temple. We were laughing the whole time due to the amount of skulls flying around everywhere, everyone else was screaming. The que for the line was also really cool looking. Great ride, lots of fun.
And they even take your picture.
Statue of Mickey in the San Fran area.
This was Laina’s favorite flavor of popcorn.
I really wish I would have gotten more pictures of the outside/inside of Tower of Terror. It had a really neat story to it, it was bout this asshole explorer who went around the world stealing stuff from different civilizations. Every artifact that he had in the different areas of the hotel had a mural painted of him doing that one adventurer pose while they were running away from something, really funny stuff. So the story is he disappeared one day and no one knows why. Eventually you get to one room where there is a tiki idol, it says some stuff and puts a curse on the group and that’s what makes the elevators go crazy. I guess they had to some up with something different since the Japanese might not know what the Twilight Zone is?
Same facial expression.
On another note also in the San Fran area there was the Toy Story Mayhem ride, we had just ridden this in Orlando and it also had a very long line so we decided to skip out on it. We also watched Fantasmic, but it was too hard to get a video or any pictures of it. It was definitely a pretty amazing show though, very different setup than Disneyland or Disney World.
